boyd_fred_leechmanFred Leechman Boyd, 88, of Radford, Va., passed away on Tuesday, February 8, 2011. He was a member of Radford Christian Church and a United States Air Force veteran having served during World War II. He was a Licensed Practical Nurse at St. Albans Psychiatric Hospital for over 40 years. His passions included hunting, fishing, camping, excursions to McDonald’s and Claytor Lake and his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Foster and Versie Phillips Boyd. Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Gladys Early Boyd, of Radford; son and daughter-in-law, Ronald D. and Alma Wright Boyd, of Troutville; daughter, Donna Gail Boyd, of Radford; two grandchildren and their spouses, the Rev. Robbie Austin and Mindy Boyd, of Lynchburg, and Ashley Reagan-Boyd and Dan Lucas, of Fincastle; great-grandchild, Isabelle Reagan Lucas; brother, Foster Clayton Boyd, of Radford; and an aunt, nieces and other family members too numerous to mention. The family would like to thank Dr. Michael Conatser and his office staff, and all their good neighbors. Memorial Services will be held 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 12, 2011, at the Mullins Funeral Home in Radford with Bishop Charles R. Russell and his son, Dr. Ronald D. Boyd, officiating. Interment will follow in Sunrise Burial Park where VFW Post #776 will conduct Military Graveside Rites. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. on Friday evening, February 11, 2011, at the funeral home.
