Bowman, Dorothy Mabel

Dorothy Mabel Bowman, age 92, of Blacksburg died Thursday, December 18, 2014 at Kroontje Health Care Center. She was born in Essex, England on April 24, 1922 to the late Henry and Sarah Mabel Jones. She was also preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.

She was a veteran of WWII having served as a radio intercept operator in the United Kingdom Royal Army. She retired from Sears. Mrs. Bowman moved to Blacksburg in 1986. During her many years as a faithful member of St. Francis Anglican Church, Mrs. Bowman served on the Vestry and Altar Guild.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Rachel E. and Mike Robinson, of Blacksburg, sons and daughters-in-law, David N. and Bettie Bowman, Roanoke, Va., Larry C. and Lindsey Bowman, Blacksburg, grandchildren, David Bowman, Jr. and wife, Laura, Dr. Jonathan Bowman and wife, Dr. Tina Bowman, Patricia Ann Bowman, Charles (Ted) Bowman and wife, Jennifer, Virginia E. Bowman, Andrew Robinson and wife, Jyl, Dr. Kimberly Orr and husband, Michael, Katie Jones, Jodie Jones, fourteen great-grandchildren.

A Funeral Service will be conducted Monday, December 22, 2014 at 11:00 am in the St. Francis Anglican Church with the Rev. Jonathan Tagg officiating. Interment will follow in the Westview Cemetery. Arrangements by McCoy Funeral Home, Blacksburg.
