William Gary Bowles (Poodle), 64 of Wolf Creek Road, Narrows, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 29th, 2014 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. He was born on June 12th, 1949, and was the son of the late Ira Bowles and Sylvia Blankenship Bowles; in addition to his mother and father, he was preceded in death by a brother Douglas Wayne Bowles. Gary was known as “Poodle” to many friends and employees at Celanese. Gary loved his five grandchildren, fishing, and having friends stop by his garage.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 43 years, Helen M. Bowles; a daughter, Debbie Hedrick and husband Anthony; a son, Eddie Bowles and wife Cathy; grandchildren, Rachel, Jordan and Keeli Bowles, Grace and Timothy Hedrick; two sisters, Dianne Gautier and husband Bobby, and Judy St. Clair Sadler; a sister-in-law, Terrie Bowles; an uncle who was loved like a brother, Jerry Blankenship and wife Sharon; a mother-in-law, Pat Wise; sisters-in-law, Vickie and Ninette Wise; brothers-in-law, Terry and Bill Wise of Ohiopyle, Pennsylvania; several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and their families, along with his early mornings at Marathon and Burger King in Narrows.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 1st, 2014 at 11 AM in the Chapel of Riffe’s Funeral Service in Narrows with Pastor Jimmy Rogers officiating. Burial will follow in Cedar Grove Cemetery in the Wolf Creek community near Narrows. The family will receive friends at Riffe’s Funeral Service Monday from 6 to 8 PM.
