Bowers, Sr., David Eugene

David Eugene (Gene) Bowers, Sr., 59 of Staffordsville went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 5th, 2007 at his home.

He was born in Baltimore, Maryland on November 6th 1947 and was the son of Calvin Bowers of Baltimore and the late Betty Drainer Bowers. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by a stepmother, Marie Bowers; an aunt, Opal Shrader; two uncles, Dennis Bowers and Clarence Bowers; two cousins, Randy White and Diane Bowles; and a nephew, Howard Bowers, Jr.

He owned several businesses and was and a former employee of General Motors in Baltimore with over 20 years service. He was a loving father, grandfather, son and brother and will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

In addition to his father, he is survived by his wife of 40 years, Lourdes Laura Bowers of Staffordsville; a daughter Jacqueline Theresa Riggio and fiancee’ Richard Shawn Hall of Baltimore; a son, David Eugene Bowers, Jr. and wife Leigh Ann of Narrows; four grandchildren, Matthew Riggio, Seth Simpson, Zach Simpson, and Brandon Cole; one brother, Howard Bowers, Sr. and wife Mildred of White Gate; four sisters, Deborah Shell of Pearisburg, Kathy Pierce, Robin Tudor, and Judy Bowers, all of Baltimore; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and many special friends.

The family will receive friends at Riffe’s Funeral Service in Narrows Saturday, April 7th, 2007, from 7-9 PM. At the family’s request, his service was private.
