Bower, Wilma Scaggs

Willodene “Wilma” Scaggs Bower, age 81, of Christiansburg passed away peacefully on Friday, July 15, 2022 at Pulaski Health and Rehab. She was born on July 29, 1940, to the late Cecil and Hazel Scaggs. She was also preceded death by her beloved husband of 39 years, Charles Richard (Dicky) Bower; brothers, Bill and Charlie Scaggs; sisters, Judy Bishop and Darlene Scaggs.

Willodene was a beloved mother, and Mama. She enjoyed being outdoors, fishing, riding in the mountains and shopping. She loved her grandsons very much. Later in life, she went to cosmetology school and was able to fulfill her dream of having her own salon in her home in Riner.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Misty Lucas (Joe), Penny Van Damme (Werner); grandsons, Brandon Lucas (Amber) and Ridge Henley; great-grandchildren, Brenham and Brody Lucas; sister, Rena Earles; and a special friend, Betty Bishop; sister-in-law, Sandy collins; brother-in-law, Larry Bower; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The family would like to express their deepest and sincere thanks to Dr. Williams, the nurses, CNA’s and the staff at Pulaski Health and Rehab for the exceptional love and care they gave mom during her stay there.

Funeral services will held on Monday, July 18, 2022 at 2:00 pm in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor James Bradley officiating. Interment will follow in the Roselawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 pm Monday, July 18, 2022 at McCoy Funeral Home, 150 country Club Drive SW, Blacksburg.
