Teresa William Soyars Bower, 97, of Clapps Convalescent Nursing Home, Asheboro, NC. Mrs. Bower died Friday, August 31, 2007 at the nursing home. Mrs. Bower was born February 26, 1910 in Floyd, Va. the daughter of William and Lula Maud (Ratliff) Soyars.

She was a native of Floyd County, Virginia and was of the Brethren Faith. She spent her early adult years in Roanoke and Salem, Va. She was the owner of Salem Camera Shop and volunteered with the American Red Cross for more than 15 years receiving numerous service awards. She volunteered at Lewis Gale Hospital in Roanoke, where she had more than 2000 hours of service. She was also involved with several other community organizations. In her later years, she, along with her husband, owned Aria Cattle Farm in Floyd, Va.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Harold Emery Bower, two sons, Jeryl Owen Bower and Donald Soyars Bower and his wife Norma Hall Bower.

She is survived by son and his wife, Harold And Margie Bower of Lancaster, Va.; son and his wife, Welford Max and Susan Bower of Asheboro, N.C.; son and his wife, Bobby Gale and Helen Bower of Salem, Va.; eight grandchildren; 13 greatgrandchildren and 11 greatgreat-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Monday, September 3, 2007, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Oakey Funeral Home, South Chapel, Roanoke, Va.. The funeral will be Tuesday, September 4, 2007, at 11 a.m. at the Oakey Funeral Home South Chapel. Burial will follow in Sherwood Cemetery, Salem, Va.
