Bower, Shirley Mae

Shirley Mae Bower departed this life on June 29th, 2021 and went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus, in Whom she put her trust. Born April 15th, 1958, Shirley lived 63 years with a courageous spirit and a loving soul.

She had highs and lows in life, having suffered difficult times as well as triumphant ones. She had an inquisitive nature, a childlike heart and truly wanted to be the best she could be in Jesus. Shirley loved spending time at home with her dog Sunshine. She loved to watch old sitcom tv shows at home, feeling well in her relative independence and in her comfort zone. She was grateful for her country, and thankful for helpful neighbors and friends, even though she sometimes had a hard time showing it.

Shirley found Christ at a younger age, and later found a church to call home for many years at Faith Christian Church. Shirley would be at church every Sunday, at every movie night, VBS, and Bible study (with a meal). You’d often see her proudly wearing the Name of Jesus on her t-shirt. Now she is with Him. Thank God for that. And Thank God for Shirley Bower.

She had a beloved friend, Sandy Alderman, who passed on 9/6/17 and we cherish the thought of that reunion and many others. Shirley leaves behind family and friends to treasure her memory and to, through Jesus, see her again.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Faith Christian Church (305 Third St in Christiansburg) on Tuesday, August 3rd at 1pm with her pastor David Rhudy officiating.
