Booth, Roger L.

Pastor Roger L. Booth, 69, of Peterstown, WV passed away Tuesday, February 16, 2016 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital, Roanoke, VA. Born March 3, 1946 at Lindside, WV he was the son of the late Raymond Elbert and Selma Rose McGhee Booth.

He retired from Carter Machinery in Bluefield after 34 years of service. Roger was a member of the West Virginia United Methodist Church Conference. He was a former member of the Peterstown United Methodist Church. Roger pastored the Meadow Bridge UMC charge for 8 ½ years which consisted of the Lockbridge and Lane churches. He was currently pastoring the Greenville UMC charge, Mt. Hedding and St. Johns UMC. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a great granddaughter, Raven Perdue, son in law, Randy Taylor and a sister, Willie Mae Booth. Survivors are his loving wife of 51 years, Carol A. Haught Booth, two sons, Jeff Booth and wife Brandi of Pulaski, VA and Greg Booth and wife Christina of Princeton, WV, two daughters, Beverly Steffey and husband Robert of Peterstown, WV and Beth Taylor of Montcalm, WV, two brothers, Jack Booth and Stephanie of Hillsville, VA and Raymond Booth Jr. and wife JoAnn of Peterstown, WV, three sisters, Joan Baber of Dilwyn, VA, Gerlene Dillon and Barbara Richardson and husband Danny all of Peterstown, WV, twelve grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Funeral service will be 3:00 PM, Friday, February 19, 2016 at the Peterstown United Methodist Church, Peterstown, WV with Rev. Melissa Shortridge officiating. Burial will follow in the Peterstown Cemetery, Giles County, VA. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services at the church, Friday. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations of sympathy be made to the Peterstown UMC Food Pantry: 47 Race Street, Peterstown, WV 24963.
