Bolt, Cheryl Murray

Cheryl Murray Bolt, 79, of Pilot, Va., and formerly of Roanoke, Va., passed into the arms of our Lord on Sunday, June 4, 2023. Born on December 16, 1943, she was the daughter of the late Ernest Nelson Murray and Joy Cook Murray. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James “Jim” Mack Bolt.

She will be missed by her children, James Timothy Bolt and wife Terrie Bolt, of El Paso, Texas, Joy Noelle Bolt of Roanoke, Va., Shannon Bolt McClellan and the late Larry McClellan of Pilot, Va., and Jesse Ethan Bolt of Martinsville, Va. In addition to her children, she will be missed by her eight grandchildren, Travis Bolt (Sarah) of Seattle, Wash., Tanner Bolt (Michaela) of Pueblo, Colo., Walker Bolt (Tabitha) of El Paso, Texas, Gabe Bolt of Roanoke, Va., John McClellan of Christiansburg, Va., and Zach McClellan, Danton McClellan, and Kamdon McClellan, all of Pilot, Va. She is also survived by her siblings, Wayne Cook (Barbara) of Roanoke, Va., Barry Murray (Sandra) of Rock Hill, S.C., Whitt Murray (Sandy) of Sioux Falls, S.D., Wally Murray (Joyce) of Montgomery, Texas, and Beverly Cumbie of Roanoke, Va., and a beloved aunt, Mary June Johnson of North Augusta, S.C.

Cheryl was a member of Penn Forest Christian Church where she enjoyed worshiping with her friends. She spent the majority of her life working in her home as a daycare provider. She loved taking care of children and many of her kids developed lifelong friendships while staying at “Mimi Cheryl’s” house. Cheryl worked hard to be sure that her family had everything they needed. She enjoyed shopping, reading, and cooking; but loved dogs above all else.

A Memorial Service will be conducted at 3 p.m. on Thursday, June 15, 2023, at Oakey’s South Chapel. The family will receive family and friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Online condolences may be shared with the family at www.Oakeys.com.
