Bolen, Roger Dale

Roger Dale Bolen, 53, of Radford, passed away Tuesday, April 24, 2007.

He was preceded in death Horace (Slim) Bolen and Frances Harter Wade Bolen; sister, Linda Dalene Bolen Collins; maternal grandparents, Oliver Dalton and Hattie Marget Alderman Wade.

He was a veteran having proudly served in the U. S. Army. He was a loving father, husband and friend to many. He was a faithful member of the Parrott United Methodist Church where he served in many capacities namely, Sunday School Superintendent, teacher and youth leader. His presence brought a sustaining force to the church where he will be sadly missed. “Live in such a way that those who know you but don’t know God will come to know God because they know you.” This is the way Roger lived his life.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Betty F. Bolen; his daughters, F. Michelle Bolen and Rebecca E. Bolen, both of Radford; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Patty and Dennis Carden of Parrott; Martha Hall, White Lake, Michigan, Susie and Roger Montgomery of Lake Wylie, S.C., Jessie Allen, Christiansburg, Va.; aunts and uncles, Elnora Wade Harris of Christiansburg, Va., Ruby W. McCrary of Floyd, Va., Dale and Mary Wade of Floyd, Va., and Danny and Trudy Wade of Salem, Va.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, April 26, 2007 at Horne Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, April 27, 2007 at the Horne Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Mike Duncan officiating. Interment will follow in West View Cemetery, Radford.
