Lavinia Hill Boggess, 90, of Rich Creek, Va., passed away Wednesday, January 31, 2007 at Country View Assisted Living in Peterstown.

Born November 28, 1916, she was the daughter of the late William Merle and Hazel Gertrude Madill Hill. Mrs. Boggess was a retired school teacher having taught in Giles County, Va. for 31 years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Rich Creek, Va., Delta Kappa Gamma, and the Retired Teachers Assoc. In addition to her parents,

Mrs. Boggess was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas C. Boggess, Sr.; and two brothers, Robert and Samuel Hill. She is survived by two sons, Thomas C. Boggess, Jr. and wife Marva of Rich Creek, Va., and Robert K. Boggess and wife Susan of Radford, Va.; five grandchildren, William “Billy” Boggess and wife Shelly, Anthony “Tony” Boggess and wife Missy, Mason Boggess and wife Crystal, Teresa Bystrek and husband Stan, and Brian Boggess and wife Cheryl, and eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, February 3, 2007 at the First United Methodist Church, Rich Creek, Va., with the Rev. Aubrey Whitlow officiating. Burial will follow at the Sunrise Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Rich Creek, Va. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, February 2, 2007 at the Broyles-Shrewsbury Funeral Home, Peterstown, W.Va. and at the church one hour prior to the services. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
