Amos Boffman, Jr., 73, of Shawsville, Va., passed away on Wednesday, May 2, 2007 at Lewis-Gale Medical Center. He was born July 4, 1933 in Riner, Va.

He was the son of the late Amos Sr. and Mary Ella (Pack) Boffman. He was a graduate of Christiansburg Institute, class of 1953, and served in the U.S. Army. He was wed to Bernice Guy; and had three sons. He lived in Chicago for several years, and after he returned home, he graduated from New River Community College earning a Police Science degree. He retired from Virginia Tech Police Force after serving as an officer for 23 years. He was an usher at Zion Hill Baptist Church until illness limited his activities.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his son Kenneth and his sister Annabelle DeHart. He is mourned by two sons, John and Michael Boffman of Chicago, Ill.; six grandchildren, Gregory Mitchell, Chavonne Christian, Charlotte Lowman, Anthony Boffman, Brian Boffman, and Kristin Wright, all of Chicago, Ill.; two brothers, Alvin Boffman (twin) and James Richard Boffman (Jerdleen) of Dale City, Va.; three sisters, Rosa Queen of Shawsville, Yvonne Guy of Chicago, Ill., and Dessie Alexander of Falls Church, Va., and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral services will be held Monday, May 7, 2007 at 12 noon at Zion Hill Baptist Church, 910 Rock Road, Radford, Va. with the Rev. Eric Ramey officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Cemetery in Christiansburg, Va. The family will receive friends at the church from 11 a.m. until time of service.
