Bocock-Akin, Mabel Eversole

Mabel E. Bocock-Akin, age 97, left this World on May11, 2022 to be with her Lord after an extended Illness. She was born October 17,1924 in Pulaski County to deceased parents Walter and Laura Sutphin Eversole,.

In 1942, she married her first husband, Jordan B. Bocock (deceased 1995). They were married for 53 years. They moved to Fort Myers, Florida in 1955 from Marion, Va. J.B. was Manager of Inter County Telephone and Mabel worked as a Secretary/Bookkeeper. In 1983, she became Treasurer/ Bookkeeper of the First United Methodist Church until it was dissolved. She loved her Church and the church family. It was at church that she met and married Jack (Bart) Akin (deceased). They were retired and enjoyed music, traveling and families.

Mabel was one of eight children, Sister: Magdaline; Brothers: Charles, Clyde, Walter,Jr., Eugene, Thomas and Richard, all preceded her in death. She was the last of our generation and having no children of her own, she became the Aunt, mother, friend and strength to her many nieces and nephews who loved her dearly. As well as great and great-great grand nieces/nephews.

A Celebration of Life will beheld on Saturday, June 25, 2022 at 4:00 pm for graveside services in Oakwood Cemetery, Pulaski, Virginia. In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made to your favorite charity.
