blount juliet boydJuliet Boyd Blount, 97, of Christiansburg, passed away on Sunday, September 16, 2012 at Lewis Gale Hospital- Montgomery. She was born in Graham, Va., on August 19, 1915, to the late Patrick Cabell and Sallie Duncan Boyd. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Frederick (Fred) Blount Sr. (Former Mayor of Christiansburg); two sisters, Lalla Brightwell and Helen Stambaugh; and a son-in-law, Donald C. Moore. She was a lifelong member of St. Paul United Methodist Church, where she was an active member of Circle #4. She retired from Imperial Reading. Juliet was a founding member of the Christiansburg Fire Department Auxiliary, and was one of the first Life Members of the auxiliary. She loved playing cards, especially bridge, as well as traveling, but most of all being with her family. She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Moore Barker and husband, Tom, of Midlothian, Va.; her son, Charles Frederick Blount Jr. and wife, Dianne, of Lexington, N.C.; three grandchildren, Donald Chumbley Moore Jr., of Richmond, Va., Carole Moore Fields and husband, Robert, of Short Pump, Va., and Charles Ross Blount and wife, Elizabeth, of Christiansburg; five great-grandchildren, Cabell Fields Wendrick and husband, Corey, Tara Elizabeth Moore, Carmen Patricia Fields, Charles Brody and Hunter Wayne Blount; niece, Sallie Lefler and family; and nephew, James H. Blount, Jr. and family. The family would like to thank Dr. Michael Payne for the care he has provided his second mother. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, September 20, 2012, in the St. Paul United Methodist Church with the Rev. Michael Copeland officiating. Burial will follow in the Sunset Cemetery, Christiansburg. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Christiansburg Fire Department Auxiliary, 110 Depot St., Christiansburg, VA 24073, or to St. Paul United Methodist Church, 220 West Main Street, Christiansburg, VA 24073. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday evening, September 19, 2012, at McCoy Funeral Home, Blacksburg, Va.
