Blankenship, Tommie Ballard

Tommie Jane Ballard Blankenship, age 81, passed away on Wednesday, September 15, 2021, at the Carilion Giles Community Hospital in Pearisburg, VA.

Born January 3, 1940, in Peterstown, WV, she was the daughter of the late James Oakley and Florence Geneieve Thomas Dillon. Tommie was of the Christian faith and attended the Appalachian Christian Center in the past. Her greatest joys in life were her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and her dog, Trixi. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend who will be dearly missed.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one grandson, Jason Tefft. Those left to cherish Tommie’s memory include one son, Grady Ballard and wife Regina of Parkersburg, WV; two daughters, Terri Lynn Tefft of Lindside, WV, and Genny A. Powell and husband Rodney of Lindside, WV; one sister, Trudy A. Taylor and husband Larry of Lerona, WV; five grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 4:00PM on Sunday, September 19, 2021, at the Broyles-Shrewsbury Funeral Home Chapel in Peterstown, WV, with Pete Dunford officiating. Burial will follow at the Williams Cemetery on Green Valley Road in Peterstown, WV.

Visitation will be from 3:00PM until time of services on Sunday at the funeral home. In light of the recent COVID outbreaks in the area, it is highly recommended that those planning on attending the visitation and funeral services wear a mask and practice social distancing.
