Thelma M. Plymale Blankenship, 81, of Pearisburg, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday morning, August 24, 2006 at Radford Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

She was born in Wayne County, West Virginia on January 28, 1925 and was the daughter of the late Okey and Alma Mae Skeens Plymale. In addition to her mother and father, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert Frederick Blankenship; a son, Gilbert L. Blankenship; three brothers and four sisters.

She was a member of Church of Christ-Williams Chapel and a retired employee of Virginia Tech, where she worked as the supervisor in the Dietrick Dining Center. A loving mother and grandmother, she is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Darlene and Johnny Adkins of Narrows, Barbara and Jimmy Midkiff of Pearisburg; seven grandchildren, Chris Boren, Jennifer Adkins, Scott Blankenship, Kimberly Carter, Stephanie Vaught, Heather Midkiff and Melanie Midkiff; four great-grandchildren, and several special nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family wishes to express its heartfelt gratitude to all of the doctors, nurses, Carilion Giles Memorial Hospital, Radford Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, ambulance services and all others that have helped during her illness.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, August 27, 2006 at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Riffe’s Funeral Service in Narrows with Richard Brown, Minister, officiating. Burial will follow in Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg. The family will receive friends at Riffe’s Funeral Service Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m.
