Mary Jane Dowell Blankenship, 85 of Pulaski, VA, formerly of Narrows and Flint, Mich., passed away on Tuesday, October 25, 2022. Mary was born on August 6, 1937, in Wico, WV and was a daughter of the late Spencer Blackburn Dowell and Thelma Blankenship.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harlon “Randall” Blankenship, daughter, Demotha Gae Lambert, sister, JoAnne Lindsey and brother, Thomas Dowell.

Mary Jane was a wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and dear friend. She spent a large part of her life living in Michigan raising her family and working until retirement when she gladly returned to her home…Virginia. One of her most enjoyed activities was spending time with all her family. She also loved being outside in her yard enjoying the sun, garden and flowers. Her and her beloved husband Randall visited many bluegrass festivals sharing their love of music. Mary Jane enjoyed taking pictures and always had a camera in her hand, capturing the wonderful memories we all share with her.

She is survived by; three sons, Randall (Rusty) Blankenship and Timothy Keith Blankenship, both of Pulaski, and Kirby Wade Blankenship and wife Debbie of Davison, Michigan; two daughters, Teresa Jane Cherette and husband Leonard of Perry, Michigan, Pamela Ann Blankenship Morris of Pulaski, son-in-law, Scott Lambert, many grandchildren and many great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins, and many special friends.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, November 1, 2022, at 2pm at the Givens – Riffe Funeral Chapel in Narrows with Rev. Doug Armstrong officiating with burial following in the Fairview Cemetery in Narrows. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour before the service from 1 – 2pm.
