autumn-backroadLeonard Lee Blankenship, 65, of the No Business Community of Bland went to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 2, 2013 at his home. He was born on November 13, 1947 at Bluefield, WV the son of the late Edison Lee and Florence Geneava Nelson Blankenship. He was retired from Bland Correctional Center as a Lieutenant with 31½ years service, was a U.S. Army veteran, a member of Wesendonck United Methodist Church, loved to fish, enjoyed traveling and yard sales was his favorite activity. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Brenda M. Blankenship; two sons and daughters-in-law, Lionel and Diane Blankenship, Bland; Kris and Crissy Blankenship, Bland; four brothers and sisters-in-law, Danny and Bonnie Blankenship, Bland; Jerry Blankenship, Bland; Keith Blankenship, Charlotte, N.C.; Kyle (Bucky) and Pam Blankenship, Narrows; two sisters, Debra Wolfe, Bland; Mary Stanley, Pulaski; five grandchildren, Kimberly, Karrie, Kathryn, Leland Blankenship and Nate Houseman. Visitation – Monday at the funeral home from 6 to 8 P.M. Funeral Services – Tuesday, November 5th at 1:00 P.M. at the funeral home with the Rev. Danny Shortridge and Rev. Wayne Monroe officiating. Burial – Mountain Field Cemetery, Hollybrook. The visitation will be at the funeral home on Monday from 6 to 8 P.M.
