Blankenship, Jean Layne

Jean Layne Blankenship, 89, passed away Friday, June 28, 2019. She was the daughter of the late Joseph Ira and Ethel Mae Lindamood Layne. Jean was a retired Pulaski County school teacher.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William David Blankenship; and a sister, Joyce Layne Simpkins. She is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Danny and Doris Layne of Wytheville; niece and nephew, Damon and Rhonda Layne of Wytheville, Danette and Brian Sherwood of Roanoke; great-nieces, Megan Layne, Ashley Layne, Morgan Layne, Chalee Juba; great-great-niece, Laci Mae Lyons.

Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 3, 2019 at Grubb Funeral Home Chapel, with interment to follow in the Mt. Pleasant Community Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Grubb Funeral Home Wednesday from 1 p.m. until service time.
