Hugh Scott Blankenship, 84, of Federal Street, Rich Creek, Virginia, former of Mercer County, died Wednesday, September 9, 2009 at his residence. Born March 25, 1925, at Panther, he was the son of the late A. Scott Blankenship and Maggie Collins Blankenship.

Mr. Blankenship retired from the Moore’s Super Store Corporation as a Regional Credit Manager. He had been a resident of Giles County for many years and as a hobby he enjoyed woodworking.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter-in-law, Rebecca Neely Blankenship along with a brother, Shelby Blankenship. Survivors include his devoted and loving wife, Evelyn Parker Blankenship; one son, Greg Blankenship of Riner, Virginia; one sister, Margaret Ellen Hambrick of Waynesboro, Va.; and a very special friend, Patty Meadows of Rich Creek Va.

Graveside services will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, September 15, 2009 in the Chapel of the Wildwood Mausoleum at Roselawn Memorial Gardens on the Courthouse Road in Princeton with Dr. David Dockery officiating. Those wishing to attend are requested to meet at the mausoleum by the service hour, their will be no visitation at the funeral home.
