Blankenship, Gloria Jane

Gloria Jane Blankenship, 64, of Narrows, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, March 25, 2013, at Carilion Giles Community Hospital in Pearisburg. She was born in Pearisburg on October 21, 1948, and was the daughter of the late Norman Jackson (Jack) and Gertrude Ellen Chambers Blankenship.

Gloria was a longtime employee of H&R Block in Pearisburg and Giles Shoe Center. She enjoyed helping people file their tax returns for 34 years. She loved shopping and spending time with her family.

She is survived by three brothers, Perry Blankenship and wife, Lola, John Blankenship and wife, Dreama, Jeffrey Blankenship and wife, Karen, all of Narrows; four sisters, Teresea Riddle and husband, Allen, of Narrows, Kay Lang and husband, Herby, of Pearisburg, Lisa Robertson, Rhonda Sanders, and Gary Bowles, all of Narrows; also survived by foster family members, “Lightnin’,” Gary, and Larry Bouldin, and Lewis and Leslie Bostwick; special friends, Larry Huffman of Craig County, Carol, Rosie, Herbert Vest, of White Gate; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many special friends.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 28, 2013, at New Village Pentecostal Holiness Church on Pulaski-Giles Turnpike (Route 100 South) in Staffordsville, with Pastor Kathy Higgs officiating.
