Carl William “Pete” Blankenship, 81 of Narrows, VA, departed this life to enter his Heavenly Home Wednesday, May 20, 2020, after a valiant battle to recover from the effects of a stroke, in the care of his faithful, loving family and Carilion Hospice. Born April 13, 1939, in Narrows, VA, he was the son of the late Clarence W. and Amy Davis Blankenship.

A sweet and kind soul, Pete was a highly skilled carpenter. He was often praised for his work ethic and respect that he showed his clients. One of his proudest accomplishments, was holding the hand of his sweetheart of 60 years, Phyllis Ramos Blankenship. Aside from carpentry, Pete also enjoyed the time he spent hunting, fishing, and any time he spent with his family or a child. Pete practiced his faith in a long-term and faithful fellowship with Bethel Chapel in Clendennin.

Pete is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, James Ted “Wally” Blankenship, and Franklin Blankenship; and a sister, Lucy Wood.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Phyllis Blankenship; a son, Jimmy Blankenship and his wife Danita “Pete” of Clendennin; a daughter, Sheila Stafford and her husband, David of Pearisburg; a sister, Lois Martin; brothers, Paul Blankenship (Mary) of Narrows, and David Blankenship (Freda) of Narrows; grandchildren, Tasha Riddle (Wendell) of Pearisburg, Jared Stafford (Lynnette) of Pearisburg, and Garret Blankenship (Abby) of Clendennin; great-grandchildren, Makenzi, Madison, Jaxon, Sophie, and Jase Staffford, and Lexi Carroll; and great-great grandchildren, Landon and Grayson.

There will be a funeral on Saturday, May 23, 2020 in Bethel Chapel in Clendennin at 2:00 PM to celebrate his life with Pastor Eddie Kendall officiating. A graveside service will follow at the Angels Rest Memorial Gardens in Narrows, VA. The family will receive friends at Bethel Chapel Saturday May 23, 2020 from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM.
