Blankenship, Anna Lou

blankenship_anna_louAnna Lou Blankenship, 88 of Narrows, VA passed away, Thursday, January 15, 2015 at Carilion Giles Community Hospital, Pearisburg, VA. Born July 24, 1926 at Shumate, VA she was the daughter of the late Wateman and Myrtle Ferguson Turner.

Mrs. Blankenship was a member of the Kathleen Memorial United Methodist Church at Wolf Creek, VA. She was a friend to everyone she met and did her very best to help anyone who was in need. Mrs. Blankenship had retired from Carilion Giles Memorial Hospital as a Ward Clerk. In her earlier career she had worked for Dr. E.S. Carr in Narrows, VA, Celanese and the Radford Arsenal. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two daughters, Betty Lou and Julia Diane Blankenship, four brothers, Gomer J., William Gerald and Oscar Hampton Turner and Rodney Havens and a sister, Inez Patton.

Survivors include her husband Walker William Blankenship, daughter Bonnie Hollaway and husband Phillip of Narrows, VA, two sisters, Jacqueline Creger of Narrows, VA and Frances Bowles and husband J.D. of Lincolnton, GA, grandson, Phillip L. Hollaway Jr. of Narrows, VA, three great grandchildren, Diana, Samantha and Delana Marie Hollaway, great niece, Sarah Grace Creger. Special thanks to C.H. Noy, Dwayne, Sandy Jon and Cherie Creger for their love, concern, and help in the care of their Aunt Anna Lou.

Funeral service will be 2:00 PM, Saturday, January 17, 2015 at the Broyles-Shrewsbury Funeral Home Chapel, Peterstown, WV with Pastor Magan Stubblefield officiating.
