Micheal David “Mickey” Bland, 67, of Narrows Road, Pearisburg, departed this life Monday morning, April 21, 2014 at his home in the loving care of his family and hospice. Born in Radford on November 26, 1946 he was a son of the late Charles Edward and Lucy Christine Hand Bland.

He had been employed as a stock clerk with Magic Mart and was a veteran of the U S Navy Viet Nam Era. Mickey was a member of Cornerstone Pentecostal Holiness Church in Narrows and enjoyed the fellowship and worship with that congregation. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers Tommy and Ronnie Bland.

He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved and devoted wife Carol Sue Ratcliff Bland; his daughters Lois and Randy Blankenship of Narrows, Janet and Frankie Sexton of Pearisburg, Virginia and Tony Pennington of Narrows; his six grandchildren; his five great-grandchildren; and his sister Virginia Mae Bland Stafford of Narrows; and many beloved nieces and nephews, and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 11:00 am at Cornerstone Pentecostal Holiness Church on College Ave. in Narrows with Pastor John Jenkins officiating. The family will receive friends at the church Wednesday evening from 6 until 8 pm. The burial will be in the Southwest Virginia Veterans Cemetery in Dublin with military honors following the funeral.
