Bland, Doris McGhee

Doris (Dotie) McGhee Bland, 81, of Christiansburg, died Wednesday, November 1, 2006 at Montgomery Regional Hospital.

She was born in Ronceverte, West Virginia on April 25, 1925 to the late Harry Lee and Virginia Elmo Palmer McGhee and was also preceded by a grandson, Andy Griffith. She was a member of Faith Christian Church and served the Lord with her music for over 60 years.

She is survived by her husband, James E. Bland, Sr. of Christiansburg; three daughters, Lynn Bland-Duncan and husband Jackson B., Kaye Bland, and Delma Griffith, all of Christiansburg; two sons, Harry L. Bland and wife Mary of Radford, James E. Bland, Jr. and wife, Sandy of Christiansburg; ten grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; cousin, Virginia C. Seafield, Miami, Fla.; her caregiver, Patsy Bratton; and her dog, Tammy.

Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, November 5, 2006 at 2 p.m. in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with Minister Mr. Clyde George officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Christiansburg.

Friends may call anytime Saturday and the family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday evening at McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Dr., Blacksburg.
