Iris Claytor Black, of Radford, entered eternal rest on Tuesday, February 4, 2014. She was the thirteenth of fourteen children born to the late Harvey D. Claytor and Lena Carter Claytor on August 11, 1924. She was a faithful member.of Asbury United Methodist Church. Iris was employed by the Board of Elections and Ethics of Washington, D.C. She received several awards for outstanding service to the US District Court. Iris has shown strength and courage beyond measure.

Iris is survived by her husband, James T. Black; son, Stanley B. Black (Dianne); grandchildren, Shelley B. Benton (Mark), Ayanna T. Black, Eric W. Black and Angela M. Black; four great-grandchildren; sisters, Irene C. Green and Madeline C. Paige; niece, Patricia Palmer; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held 1 p.m.Saturday, February 8, 2014, at First Baptist Church, 555 West Rock Road, Radford, VA 24141, with the Rev. Corwin. C. Casey officiating. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m to 1 p.m. at the church. Friends may call on Friday afternoon for viewing at Hamlar-Curtis Funeral Home.
