Bishop, Marvin
Marvin Bishop, 66, of Roanoke and formerly of Christiansburg, went to be with the Lord Wednesday, March 14, 2007. He was born December 7, 1940 in Kimball, W.Va., the son of the late Clarence and Essie Bishop. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Roscoe Bishop.
Marvin was a member of Cambria Baptist Church. He was a graduate of Virginia Tech with a Marine Corps Commission as a Second Lieutenant. He was a veteran having proudly served in the Marine Corps during the Vietnam War being honorably discharged as a Captain.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, John Wesley and Jane Bishop; his daughter and son-in-law, Wendy and David Kelley; six grandchildren; his sisters and brothers-in-law, Sylvia Rutherford, Nancy and Alvin Hale, Celia and Bill Cassell, Anna and Richard McGuire, and Lois Burnette; brothers and sisters-in-law, Clarence and Brooke Bishop and Earl and Sue Bishop, and many loving nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, March 17, 2007 at the Horne Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Horne Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Christiansburg with military graveside rites by VFW Post #1184.
