Bishop, Lucy Mae Wood Royal

Lucy Mae Wood Royal Bishop, 94, of Blacksburg, died Sunday, June 29, 2008, at South Roanoke Nursing Home, Roanoke.

She was born in Walkertown, N.C., on August 12, 1913, to the late William Andrew and Rachel Elvina Sell Wood. She is survived by her daughter, Clara Underwood Meador and husband, Linwood, of Daleville, Va.; sons, Claude S. Royal and wife, Betsy, and James Royal and wife ,Vivian, all of Lynchburg; two stepdaughters, Fay Walters and husband, Clifton, and Grace Simmers and husband, Benny, all of Blacksburg; 16 grandchildren; and nine greatgrandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 2, 2008, in the St. Michael’s Lutheran Church with Pastor John Wertz, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in the Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Christiansburg.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday evening, July 1, 2008, at the McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Drive, S.W., Blacksburg, Va.
