Bishop, Gary Ray

Gary Ray Bishop of Christiansburg, left this world and his family far too soon on Tuesday, June 29, 2021 at the age of 39.

Gary is survived by his father, Billy Bishop; mother, Jeannie Hawley with her boyfriend Chris Wallace; and brother, Sonny Bishop with his wife, Danielle Bishop; and niece and nephews Haleigh Bishop, Owen Bishop, and Mac Bishop. He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins in the Bishop and Hawley families that miss him and mourn him deeply.

Gary was a graduate of Auburn High School where he developed a love of baseball and basketball. Gary worked as a cook at Dudes Drive-In where he loved his work and made dear friends there that he considered second family.

Gary was a good and kind-hearted young man that had a strong love for his family and friends. He also had a special passion for music. His greatest joy was playing his guitar, singing, and sharing that passion with his family and friends. His family greatly grieves the loss of Gary but knows that our sovereign and gracious God loves him even more than we do, and we pray that God may grant him peace.

The family will receive friends on Friday, July 2 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Horne Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be on Saturday, July 3 at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Interment will be in the Bishop Cemetery in Hiawassee.
