bishop_blanche_clesterBlanche Clester Bishop, 98, of Riner, Va., died on Thursday, February 4, 2010, at Carilion New River Valley Medical Center. She was born in Carroll County on November 15, 1911. She was the daughter of the late Hosey L. and Pearlie Phillips Quesenberry. She moved to Montgomery County after marriage and lived her remaining years in the Riner community. She was a faithful servant of Jehovah as one of his witnesses since 1954. She was predeceased by her husband, William H. Bishop; son, Buddy L. Bishop; sister, Sylvia Stone; and brothers, Mawyer, Garvet, Marvin and Burl Quesenberry. Left to cherish her memory are her sons and their wives, James R. (Bob) Bishop and wife, Dolly F., of Riner, Va., William J. Bishop and wife, Frances J., of Orlando, Fla., Bennie N. and wife, Florence Farley Bishop, of Christiansburg, Va., Basil G. Bishop and wife, Peggy, of Roanoke, Va., and Kenneth M. Bishop and wife, Mary, of Riner, Va.; daughter-in-law, Carolyn S. Bishop, of Salem, Va.; grandchildren and spouses, R. Gregory Bishop and wife, Camille, of Radford, Va., Laura Galant and Mark, of St. Cloud, Fla., Sheila Lutringer and Adam, of Knoxville, Tenn., Jennifer Douglas and Clint, of Ocean Springs, Miss., Michael Steven Bishop, of Christiansburg, Va., Dr. Scott Bishop and his wife, Dr. Kyoungwon (Kei) Lee Bishop, of Princeton, Minn., Mitzi Denson and husband, Dean, of Roanoke, Va., Angela Bishop, of Salem, Va., Carrie Magill and husband, Merin, of Greensboro, N.C., and Kevin Bishop and wife, Rilka, of Christiansburg, Va.; great-grandchildren, Lauren Galant, Matthew and Micah Denson, Memphis Magill, and Magdalene (Maggie) Sumin Bishop, of Princeton, Minn.; sister, Janice Collier, Deland, Fla.; brother, Kenneth Quesenberry and wife, Lydia, of Rising Sun, Md.; sister-in-law, Sarah Quesenberry, of Seal Beach, Calif.; several nieces and nephews; good friend and healthcare giver, Karen Wood; and healthcare giver, Debbie Smith. She was a devoted mother, mother-inlaw, grandmother and great-grandmother. The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 11, 2010, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Horne Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. on Friday, February 12, 2010, at the Horne Funeral Home Chapel with Minister Ralph Stewart officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Cemetery, Christiansburg, Va.
