Benjamin Jack Bird, 77, of Christiansburg, Va., went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, September 15, 2010, at Heritage Hall. He was born in McCommas, W.Va., on September 6, 1933, to the late Benjamin S. and Susie Stahls Bird.

He was preceded in death by six brothers and a sister. He was a member of the Bible Holiness Church, Christiansburg.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Bird; daughters and sons-in-law, Elizabeth Dean and Ray Pyles, of Christiansburg, Barbara Robinette and Victor Semones, of Christiansburg, Theresa and Donnie Hodge, of Blacksburg, and Rebecca Bird and Tressie Cole, of Christiansburg; grandchildren, Benny Goldsborough, Christopher Robinette, Lauren Hodge, and Jamie Dean; sisters, Pearlie Adams, of Oakvale, W.Va., Kathleen Mullins, of Bluewell, W.Va., and Mary Hampton, of Princeton, W.Va.; five greatgrandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Special thanks to New River Valley Carilion Hospice, and the staff of Heritage Hall, especially Linda Williams, Rebecca Brewster, Lois Wade, Teresa Jenkins and Susan Nunn, Dr. John White, Scott Boerth, Dr. Jose Rivera, and Dr. Aaron Prussin.

Funeral Services will be conducted 2 p.m. on Saturday, September 18, 2010, in the Bible Holiness Church with the Rev. Dewayne Martin officiating. Interment will follow in the Roselawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday evening, September 17, 2010, at the McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club, SW, Blacksburg, Va., 540-552-3211.
