Mabel Hutchison Beverley, 90, of Baltimore, Maryland, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 19, 2007 at Union Memorial Hospital, Baltimore, Md., after a courageous battle with osteoporosis, spinal stenosis and strokes.

She devoted herself to building a business with her late husband, Ashby V. Beverley, until his passing in 1962. Following that she was a landlord and a devoted 31 year companion to the late Claude Gaylor, and remained a homemaker for her daughter, Joyce.

She was born Mabel Kernell Hutchison on January 30, 1917, at Newport, Virginia, the daughter of the late Charles J. and Missouri A. Hutchison (nee Duncan). She was preceded in death by her brothers, Harold, Kenneth Andrew and Charles Hutchison and sister, Nina Hutchison, and her devoted companion of 31 years, Claude Gaylor.

She is survived by her children, Dennis Beverly and Joyce Beverley, of Baltimore, Maryland; granddaughter, Christina Pearson-Tuell and husband, Richard, of Red Lion, Pennsylvania, and granddaughter, Michelle Harris, of Joppa, Maryland; two great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces and nephews; and many hundreds of friends and acquaintances.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, April 27, 2007 at the Horne Funeral Home in Christiansburg, Va. Graveside services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 28, 2007 at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Christiansburg with Pastor Sebert Rorrer officiating.
