Bess, Billie “Joanne” Hedge

Billie “Joanne” Hedge Bess, 79, of Radford, went to be with her Lord and Savior Sunday morning, June 12, 2011, surrounded by her family. Billie was born on February 5, 1932 to the late Charles and Roxie Hedge. Billie married her soul mate, Theodore Winfred Bess on July 31, 1948 and together they owned and operated Ted’s Market in Radford for many years. She was preceded in death by her husband Ted and by her siblings Lawrence Hedge, James Hedge, Beatrice Anderson, Lynwood Bocock, Ida May Snyder and Bessie Hamilton. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Thea Ann and James Reid of Salem; son and daughter-in-law, Theodore “TW”, II and Dana Bess of Radford. She adored children and was blessed with four grandchildren, Theodore III “Trey”, Tabetha, Trent and Taylor Bess; and a sister, Dorothy McKinnie of Glen Bernie, MD. She is also survived by numerous loved ones and friends including a special niece Rita Hamilton of Crownsville, MD. A celebration of her life will be held Wednesday, June 15, 2011 at 11 am at the Mullins Funeral Home in Radford with Rev. Glennard Quesenberry officiating. Entombment will follow in the Highland Memory Gardens Mausoleum in Dublin. The family will receive friends from 6 pm until 8 pm Tuesday evening.
