Bernal, Karen Whitt

Karen Kay Whitt Bernal, 50, of Christiansburg, passed away Friday, November 14, 2014. She was retired from the U. S. Air Force after 20 years of meritorious service and was a bronze star recipient.

She was preceded in death by her father, Richard Elvin Whitt.Survivors include her mother, Lula Mae Whitt of Christiansburg; sisters and brother-in-law, Donna and Ricky Byrd of Riner and Lisa Whitt Sayers of Christiansburg; brother and sister-in-law, Richard Elvin, Jr. and Shawna Whitt of Radford; Aunts, Sophia Leedy and Vicki Hrones Roop; uncle, Nick Hrones; and nieces and nephews, Stephanie Hollar, Justin and Zachery Byrd, and Brianna, Kendra, Kayla, Dylan and Dakota Whitt..

Graveside services will full military honors will be held Thursday, November 20, 2014 at 11:00 am at the Southwest Virginia Veterans Cemetery in Dublin with Rev. Neil Turner officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the Southwest Virginia Veterans Cemetery Volunteers, c/o Mary Lou Summers, PO Box 11373, Blacksburg, VA 24062-1373 for the Wreath Program.
