She was born in Queens, New York. Throughout her early years she was a true New Yorker. She had a passion for riding and competing with horses. In the 1980’s Lois returned to school and received a masters degree in sociology and leadership from Shepherd University. With her new degree she moved to Blacksburg, Virginia in 1986 and became a graduate assistant to work on PHD in sociology and teaching. This move and her experience as an athlete led her to create a place for her skills in the Virginia Tech Athletic Department where she worked as a counselor for student athletes for 18 years to help student athletes adjust to life in college and to transition into the real world after college. Lois was well-known for her love of all sports, but had a special love for basketball.

In 2008, Lois retired to Narrows, Virginia with her beloved cats and dogs. Lois believed living in the moment and speaking her mind.

Special thank you to those that cared for her at Commonwealth Senior Living in Radford.

A celebration of life will be held in the evening at her granddaughter’s home at 1961 Peakland Dr. Pulaski, Va 24301 on Saturday, November 18, 2023 at 5:00.
