Berg, Carl Rockford

Carl Rockford (Rocky) Berg, 99, of Narrows, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 13, 2008, with his family by his side.

Mr. Berg was born on June 22, 1908, in Parsons, W.Va., and was the son of the late Oscar and Dove Shaffer Berg. He moved to Narrows with the Celanese Corporation in the late 1930s. He was a loyal, hard working employee for many years, retiring in the 1970s. Mr. Berg was a longtime member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Pearisburg, and Intermont Lodge # 269 A.F. & A.M.

He was preceded in death by his devoted wife of many years, Pauline Matthews Berg; and his loving son, Carlton Lee Berg. He is survived by a daughterin-law, Phyllis Berg; three grandsons, Rocky Berg, Todd Berg and wife, Gigi, and Eric Berg; and three greatgrandchildren, Jason Berg and wife, Shannon, Anna Berg and Emily Berg. In addition to his family, Mr. Berg leaves behind many wonderful friends and neighbors who helped look after him in his later years. He will be missed greatly.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, February 16, 2008, in the Chapel of Riffe’s Funeral Service in Narrows with the Rev. Linda Motley officiating. Burial will follow in Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg.
