Gerney (Duke) Allen Beran, 83, of Floyd passed away Wednesday, November 29, 2006. He was a veteran of the United States Army and served in World War II and the Korean Conflict. Duke was a member of Floyd V.F.W. Post #7854, Floyd Masonic Lodge #329 AF AM, and Kazim Shriners. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Patricia S. Beran and son, Dale L. Beran.

He is survived by wife, Thalia Beran; four sons and daughters-in-law, Ralph and Joy Beran, David and Kathy Beran, Paul and Peggy Beran, all of Floyd, Wayne and Kelly Beran, Greenville, Tenn.; brother, Verlen Beran, Pa.; eleven grandchildren, 22 greatgrandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday at Gardner Funeral Home, with the Rev. Robert Blackwell officiating. Interment will follow at Jacksonville Cemetery with military graveside rites by Floyd V.F.W. Post #7854 and Floyd American Legion #127.

Friends may call after 6 p.m. on Friday at Gardner Funeral Home, where the family will be from 6 to 8 p.m. A Masonic service will be held at 7 p.m. by Floyd Masonic Lodge #329 AF AM.
