Bennett, Tiffany Peterson
Tiffany Peterson Bennett, age 47, of Irmo, passed unexpectedly on July 14, 2023. Born May 11, 1976 in Blacksburg, VA she was the daughter of Harvey and Margaret Peterson. She was married for 25 years to her soulmate and best friend, Kevin John Bennett.
Tiffany lived life with a full force measure of love, kindness, caring, genuine acceptance, and joy. She was a champion for the disenfranchised and abused, and often went to battle on behalf of others. Her openness and exuberant nature made the family home a place where anyone and everyone felt welcome. Tiffany enjoyed time at the beach, playing with her cats, giving a listening ear, and generally being a goofy big kid. You could not be around her and not smile. She is dearly loved and deeply missed.
Tiffany graduated from James Madison University and served in various capacities in elementary education. Her willingness and desire to help children with life and learning challenges was yet another extension of the strength she gathered and gave in helping others.
In addition to her husband and parents, Tiffany is survived by her son JohnCody Bennett; daughter Zakira Bennett; brother Chas. Peterson (World’s Okayest Brother) and his wife Sara of Cincinnati, OH; nephew Gunnar; nieces Abigail and Sydney; her cats Champion, Emily Jr, Pippi, and Little Critter; and numerous other family and close friends.
A time of visitation and life celebration will be held on Wednesday, July 19, 2023, from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m., at Whitaker Funeral Home in Chapin. The family asks that attendees dress in a joyful, colorful way that would have made Tiffany smile.
Memorial contributions may be made to Queer Haven Books (https://queerhavenbooks.com/) in her memory. The family also asks that you go and love those around you as fiercely as she loved those around her.
Memories and messages of condolence may be shared with the family at whitakerfuneralhome.com.

To the family of Tiffany,
We were so shocked and saddened to hear of Tiffany’s sudden passing.
We both remember her as a beautiful, smart, talented high school student( in choir with me and she was in my husband’s counseling load) who was so well liked by all of her classmates and teachers.
To read of all her subsequent accomplishments only reinforces what we all knew back then.
Our deepest sympathy goes out to each of you at this unimaginable time.
