Bennett, Ruby Carol

Ruby Carol Bennett, 66, of the Springdale Community, Pearisburg, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, September 10, 2014, at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. She was born on July 31, 1948, in Springdale, Va., the daughter of the late Early Houston and Mary Katherine James Simpkins.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, George Henry Bennett Sr.; and three sisters, Mary Francis Collins, Margaret Browe Tabor and Mildred Louise Kirk. She is survived by two sons, George H. Bennett Jr. (Cindy) of Riner, and Dwayne Bennett (Jennifer) of Wytheville; two daughters, Tracy Alley (Tony) of Max Meadows, and Misty Kornegay (and friend, Jesse) of Pearisburg; three brothers, Donald Lee (Marie) Simpkins of Charlottesville, Va., Ronnie William (Sylvia) Simpkins of Ruckersville, Va., and Elmer Newton (Tamara) Simpkins of Pulaski; four grandchildren, Austin Alley, Emily Kornegay, Caleb Blankenship, and Jamie Johnson; and brother-in-law, Walter Kirk.

Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, September 14, 2014,at the New Village Pentecostal Holiness Church, Staffordsville with Tamara Simpkins and the Rev. Layne Board officiating. Burial will be held in Birchlawn Burial Park, Pearisburg. Visitation will be on Saturday, September 13, 2014 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the A. Vest & Sons Funeral Home, White Gate, Va.
