Bennett, Rachel Miller
Rachel Frances Miller Bennett, age 85, passed away on Monday, November 30, 2020, at her home in Ballard, WV. Born June 28, 1935, in Ballard, WV, she was the daughter of the late Cecil Pearl and Okla Mae Cecil Miller.
She graduated from Peterstown High School in 1952. Rachel worked in the accounting department at Celanese Corps. in Narrows, VA. After starting a family, she became a full-time homemaker. She was always known for her green thumb and love of gardening. Rachel was an active member of the First Missionary Baptist Church in Ballard. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother and aunt.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Calvin Bennett, Jr., one daughter, Cheri Lynn Bennett; three brothers, Garland, Dean, and Clarence Miller; and one sister, Ruth Gillespie. Survivors include two sons, Timothy Bennett and wife Kelly of Rich Creek, VA, and Steven Bennett of Ballard, WV; two daughters, Marcia Reese and husband Keith of Peterstown, WV, and Melissa Naylor of Rich Creek, VA; eight grandchildren, Tyler and Gretchen Reese, Sherry and Ike Naylor, Michaela Murphy, Jevin and Chandler Scott, and Alex Bennett; and one great grandson, Shaun Cooper Murphy, along with numerous nephews and nieces.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00PM on Saturday, December 5, 2020, at the Broyles-Shrewsbury Funeral Home Chapel in Peterstown, WV, with Pastor Tim Sanderson and Pastor Nathan Miller officiating. Burial will follow at Orchard Cemetery in Ballard, WV. Visitation will be from 11:00AM until time of services on Saturday at the funeral home.
