Mildred Parker (Millie) Beecher, age 91, affectionately known to everyone as “Millie” or “Nanny” of Blacksburg, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 29, 2011, surrounded by family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Albert Sloan Beecher. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Betty and Ken Moore of Blacksburg; son and daughter-in-law, Bill Beecher and Mary Ferrari of Radford; grandsons Alan Moore (Laura) of Watkinsville, GA and James Stewart of Radford, Va; granddaughters Suzanne Maxwell (Brian) of Williamstown, NJ and Anna Chrysostomides of Radford, Va; great-grandchildren Alex, Holly, and Ethan Moore and Parker and Casey Maxwell.

She had many accomplishments in her life, but the one that gave her the greatest joy and pride was being a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Her family would like to offer their love and gratitude to her beloved friend and caregiver of over twenty years, Lois Mickens.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to her church, Blacksburg Christian Church, 240 Watson Avenue in Blacksburg.

The funeral service will be held on Monday, January 2, 2012 at 11:00 am at Blacksburg Christian Church with the Rev. Gary McCoy officiating. Interment will follow at Westview Cemetery in Blacksburg. The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 pm on Sunday, January 1, 2012 at the McCoy Funeral Home in Blacksburg.
