Beckett, Earl McClentic
Earl McClentic Beckett, 95, of Peterstown, W.Va., formerly of Rich Creek, died Saturday, November 16, 2013, at Country View Assisted Living in Peterstown. Born February 3, 1918, in Athens, he was the son of the late George Benjamin Beckett and Gertrude Celestia Basham Beckett.
He retired from the Celanese Corporation and was a United States Army veteran of World War II. Earl was a dedicated member of First United Methodist Church in Rich Creek where he previously served as a lay leader and an adult Bible class teacher. He had been a resident of Rich Creek since 1940 moving there from the Princeton/Athens area.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by nine brothers, and three sisters. Earl is survived by his loving wife of 74 years, Eula Basham Beckett of Peterstown; and numerous nieces; nephews; and cousins.
Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, November 19, 2013, at Seaver Funeral Home in Princeton, W.Va., with the Rev. Douglas Hendrick and the Rev. Aubrey Whitlow officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton. Friends may call from 1 p.m. until the service hour Tuesday at the funeral home.
