Sue Carothers Beavers of Blacksburg, formerly of Roanoke, died on Friday, March 16, 2007 at age 79. The only child of the late James Dennis and Nell Field Carothers, she was born on November 15, 1927, near Centerville, Tenn.

She is survived by her six children, Lynnda Sue Beavers, of Forest, Va., James Lynnard Beavers and his wife, Anne of Ambridge, Penn., Nancy B. McDuffie and her husband, Robert of Blacksburg, Va., Mark Carothers Beavers, of New York, N.Y., Rebecca Ann Beavers, of Newport, Ken., and Jenny B. Powers and her husband, Steve of Moncure, N.C. Also surviving are her six grandchildren, Jay Beavers, Leslie B. Woo, and John Beavers, and Lucas, Lauren and Seth McDuffie.

The family wishes to express their appreciation to her special caregiver Ellen Martin and the staff of Kroontje Health Care Center.

A memorial service will be held Sunday, March 25, 2007, at 3 p.m. at North Roanoke Baptist Church. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to North Roanoke Baptist Church, 6402 Peters Creek Road, Roanoke, VA 24019. Arrangements by McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Dr., Blacksburg.
