beal linda cLinda C. Beal passed away June 8, 2012 in Blacksburg, at age 60. Linda was wife to Bill Beal and mother to Maggie and Colin Beal, of Blacksburg. She will be dearly missed. Born Linda Carol McCartney in Royal Oak, Mich., her parents, Bill and Mary McCartney, raised their family in Kansas and Wyoming before settling in Adrian, Mich. Linda met Bill Beal in high school and they were married in May of 1972. The two settled in Blacksburg in 1979 and their children were born in 1983 and 1985. Linda earned bachelor and master’s degrees from Virginia Tech in Home Economics and child development. She also worked for Children’s Services of Montgomery County and for two nonprofits, the Boys & Girls Club of America and Beans & Rice. Linda was an advocate for children of the New River Valley. Linda was a dedicated wife and mother. She spent her life building a loving home and family. She enjoyed gardening; she was an extraordinary seamstress; and most importantly, she was a terrific friend. Linda shared laughs and tears gracefully. She was always available to help her friends and family. Linda was committed to caring for those she loved, and for that we are deeply grateful. Linda Beal died of a cerebral hematoma developed as a complication of aplastic anemia. Her death shocked and saddened all those who knew her.
