baugh_lincoln_pageLincoln Page Baugh, 93, of Pulaski, passed away Saturday, September 25, 2010. He was born in Kimberling, Va., in Bland County, on April 26, 1917.

When his family moved to their Pulaski farm, he began school at Back Creek Elementary. After graduating from Pulaski High School, he attended Hiwassee College and Iowa State College. Lincoln loved baseball, playing third base on the high school and college teams.

He served in the United States Navy during World War II. Lincoln and his wife, Helene, were charter members of Memorial Baptist Church where they remained very active. They were enthusiastic Virginia Tech football and basketball fans who had season tickets for many years. On summer evenings, they watched Minor League baseball at Calfee Park. After retiring from the Chesapeake and Potomac Telephone Company, Lincoln became a real estate agent and investment broker. He especially enjoyed the hours spent working on his Draper farm caring for his horses and cattle. Lincoln was always devoted to his family.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Helene Altizer Baugh; parents, George Addison Baugh and Lelia Harman Baugh; brother, George Sheffey Baugh; sisters, Pearl Baugh Mabry, Blanche Baugh Mabry, and Evelyn Baugh. He is survived by his sister, Gloria Baugh Sanderson, of Knoxville, Tenn.; daughters, Jayne Perala, of Roanoke, and Patsy Gilbert and her husband, Frank Gilbert, of Pulaski; granddaughter, Emily Gilbert, of Charlotte, N.C.; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday September 29, 2010 , at Memorial Baptist Church, Pulaski, with Pastor David Lones officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday, September 29, 2010, from noon until 2 p.m. service time at the church. Interment will follow in Thornspring Cemetery where the V.F.W. Post 1184 will conduct military honors.
