Bates, Josie Lilly

Josie Virginia Lilly Bates of Peterstown, WV entered into eternal rest with her Heavenly Father on August 8, 2022 in the care of her family, hearing “Welcome to my Kingdom, my good and faithful servant”. Born in Kerns, Virginia on September 30, 1938, she was a daughter of the late Albert and Dorothy Kast Lilly.

Josie is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William Bates; and siblings, Sally Martin, Hilda Talbert, and Robert Lilly.

Left to cherish her memory to their hearts are her daughter, Pam Bates; grandson, Ryder Page (Yuri) of Las Vegas, Nevada; great grandchildren, Aurelius Page, and Lillyana Page; sisters, Orva Babel of Reidsville, NC, Betsy Hudgins (Robert) of Richmond, Reba Wilson of Reidsville, NC, Rebecca Sutphin (Dr. Dale Sutphin) of Pearisburg, VA, Mamie Bailey (Ron) of Eden, NC, and Karthena Auto (Tom) of Minnesota; a brother, Gerald Lilly (Wanda) of Peterstown, WV; her sister-in-law, Dorothy Lilly; a 4 legged sweet grandbaby, Journey Soleil; and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service for Josie will be conducted Wednesday, August 10, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Bethel Chapel in the Clendennin Community with Pastor Eddie Kendall officiating. The family will receive friends in Bethel Chapel on Wednesday, August 10, 2022 from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM.
