Bassett, Jon Ashley

Jon Ashley Bassett, age 46, of Roanoke and formerly of Pulaski, passed away early Monday morning July 17, 2023 at the Roanoke Memorial Hospital. Born December 31, 1976 in Pulaski, Virginia, he was the son of Martha Peterson Bassett Ward and the late Lonnie Jackson “LJ” Bassett, Jr.

Jon was a graduate of Pulaski County High School and a proud United States Marine.

He was a loving and dedicated father. He was quick with a smile and had a great sense of humor. He was loved by his family and his many friends. He will be greatly missed.

Stepfather – Charles Ward – Dublin, VA

Brother – Joe Bassett – Blacksburg, VA

Sister-in-law – Cathey Bassett – Blacksburg, VA

Nephew – Riley Bassett- Blacksburg, VA

Cousin – E.R. Dickerson – Pulaski, VA

Memorial services will be held on Thursday, September 14th at 11:00 am at the Dublin Baptist Church, with Pastor Michael Blouse officiating. The church will be open at 10:30 with a slideshow in celebration of Jon’s life. Burial will follow at the Southwest Virginia Veterans Cemetery, Dublin where Jon will receive full military honors.
