Basham, Diana Sue
Diana Sue Basham, age 62, of Shawsville, VA, transitioned into the arms of our Lord Jesus Christ on the afternoon of March 27, 2020. She was born to Cleon and Betty B. Basham on December 20, 1957 in Montgomery County, VA.
Diana graduated from Shawsville High School in 1976 and very much loved to study history. Diana was a devoted and loving mother of three; Corey (April), Candy and David and was immensely proud of her family. She was always excited to spend time with her precious grandchildren: “LeeLee” (Aaliyah Bush) and her “sweet boys” (Gavin & Bryson Dow). Diana loved celebrating and decorating for each holiday, especially Christmas, and was happiest at family get-togethers; any opportunity to spend time with or talk to her loving parents, sister (Denise Basham Montgomery) and brothers (Daniel and Dennis) brought her great joy and was important to her. She adored her nieces and nephews, many of whom fondly remember her as one who always had a smile, a tender hug and loved to make their favorite dishes for them.
Diana was known for her thoughtfulness, her generosity, her beauty, her gentle spirit and her amazing sense of humor – she loved to dance (she certainly passed her sense of style and love of music to her children) and would light up any room that she entered. She often spoke of togetherness and the blessed reminder of the day when God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes, when there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain, for our Lord will make all things new.
Our sweetest Diana, Momma, Grandmomma will be deeply missed by all that knew and loved her, as she leaves nothing behind but an array beautiful memories. We grieve our loss but we honor her life and her spirit.
Family and friends will share information for a memorial service at a later time in the Spring. The outpouring of love and support have been a true source of comfort during this time. Arrangements by McCoy Funeral Home, Blacksburg.
