Barton, Margaret Louise Snyder

Margaret Louise Snyder Barton, 72, of Radford, Va., passed away Sunday, March 22, 2009.

She was a member of First Christian Church in Radford. She will be remembered as a person of great service to the community who always put others first. The love she shared with her family and friends and her contribution to numerous ministries and organizations will continue to be felt for generations. She was a beacon to many through her service as an active member of First Christian Church and a founding member of Radford Clothing Bank. She also was a servant leader in her work with the Women’s Resource Center, and her support and service to countless individuals and organizations too numerous to name.

She was preceded in death by her father, Frederick William Snyder; her sister, Anita Joyce Johnston; and her stepfather, Robert William Seymour. Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Doyle Rayburn Barton, of Radford; her mother, Margaret McNeely Snyder Seymour, of Pembroke; special aunt, Marie Snider, of Pearisburg; two sons and daughters-in-law, D. R. and Cathie Barton, of Newark, Del., and Douglas William and Kimberly Barton, of Ocean Springs, Miss.; a daughter and son-in-law, Susan Louise Barton and Duane Osgood, of Durham, N.C.; and five grandchildren, Lydia and Emily Osgood, Margaret (Meg), Joshua and Grace Barton; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, March 28, 2009, at noon at the First Christian Church, in Radford, with the Rev. Gina Rhea and the Rev. Christine Reisman officiating. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday at the church.
