Barton, Jr., Samuel Rufus Kent

Samuel Rufus Kent Barton, Jr., 72, of Parrott, passed away Saturday, May 28, 2011. He was born in Radford on January 12, 1939 the son of the late Samuel Rufus Kent, Sr. and Hazel Hutchinson Barton. He was retired electrical supervisor at Va. Tech with 22 years of service. Survivors include his wife Janice Hill Barton of Parrott; three sons and daughters-in-law, William Kent and Pamela Barton of Pulaski, Larry Lynwood and Melynda Barton of Blacksburg, and Ronald Evan and Cherie Barton of Triangle; daughter, Patricia Lynn Barton of Parrott; sister and brother-in-law, Harriett and Steve Gorby of Christiansburg; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; 16 nieces; and 15 nephews; and special friends, Randy Croy of McCoy and Charles Overstreet of Parrott; and loving pet, Annabelle. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 1, 2011 at 3 p.m. at the Mullins Funeral Home in Radford with the Rev. Eddie Dalton and the Rev. Richard Hutchison officiating. Interment will follow in the Prices Fork Community Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 a.m. until the time of the service.
